Cinnabar on Calcedony

This Cinnabar (HgS) on Chalcedony (SiO) is a rock that anyone would pick up for being pretty and pink, but with a little heat, this can make you go mad. Literally. Mercury isn’t something you’d want to let a younger child play with, even in rock form. However, it makes a cool sample for rock & element collectors, it’s a pretty cool rock to look at, and it’s definitely worth knowing and being able to identify to protect yourself and those around you in the future.
