Tumbled Turquoise

Turquoise, CuAl6(PO4)4(OH)8·4H2O, named in the 14th century from the French “turquois” meaning “Turkish”, is found on every Continent. It was a highly valued mineral among Native Americans as it’s not a common color you’d find in nature. Within Colorado, Turquoise can be found in Conejos, Eagle, Lake, Mineral, Rio Grande, Saguache and Teller Counties.
