When this formed ~23 million years ago, it did so on top of a big Pyrite cube or Calcite crystal. Pulled up from 300′ underground, 11 miles south of Whitewater, Colorado. Nancy Hanks Gulch Amethyst is some of the best in the world! While you can visit and collect some for yourself, you’ll never find any this incredible, at least, not without claim-jumping!
