When this formed ~23 million years ago, it did so on top of a big Pyrite cube or Calcite crystal. It was mined south of Whitewater, Colorado, and the Nancy Hanks Amethyst is some of the best in the world! While you can visit and collect some for yourself, you’ll never find any this incredible, at least, not without claim-jumping!
