Description
Mined for its Vanadium, Sherwoodite also contains calcium, aluminum, oxygen and water. It was named after Alexander M. Sherwood, an analytical chemist of the United States Geological Survey.
There’s not much more information on it, as it appears to be a newer mineral, named possibly in 1959? Its hardness is 2 and its specific gravity is 2.8, and besides Utah, Arizona, Texas, New Mexico and Colorado, it’s found only in two other places: the Ragra Mine in Pasco, Peru, and the Limestone quarry in the Pardubice Region, Czech Republic. Its TL is the Peanut Mine in Montrose County, Colorado
